¿Tiene hora?

Is it morning or evening?

In many Spanish-speaking countries, you'll use the 24-hour clock, so you won't need to clarify whether that dentist appointment is at two in the afternoon, or two in the morning.
But in case you do, you'll do it like this:
Son las dos de la mañana
It's two in the morning

Son las dos de la tarde
It's two in the afternoon

Son las ocho de la noche
It's eight in the evening

When does "the night" start?
In most English speaking countries you'd probably start talking about "the night/evening" around 6pm. But in a lot of Spanish-speaking countries, you wouldn't roll out the "de la noche" until around 8pm.

How to say midday - Es el mediodía
                                  It's noon / midday

How to say midnight - Es la medianoche
                                     It's midnight
Son las ocho en puntoIt's exactly 8 o'clock
Casi son las ocho - It's nearly 8 o'clock

Saying when something will happen

When you want to talk about what time a class is, or what time you'll meet someone, you'd use "at" in English. ("I'll meet you at seven"). In Spanish you'll use "a las..."

Tengo mi clase de español a las cinco
I have my Spanish class at five

¿Nos encontramos a las siete?
Shall we meet at seven
?

Noche de Brujas

Halloween (Día de las Brujas) is hailed mainly as a children's festival in Mexico on October 31. It is often overshadowed by the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) celebrations on All Saints' Day and All Soul's Day.

In Spain Halloween has traditional feel which sets it apart from most European countries.

Better known as El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead or All Souls Day), Halloween in Spain is a three-day celebration that kicks off on October 31st with Dia de las Brujas (Day of the Witches), continues with Dia de Todos los Santos (All Saints Day) on November 1st, and culminates with Dia de los Muertos on November 2nd.
Far from being a commercial holiday, the Spanish Halloween is all about honoring the dead and celebrating the continuity of life. Accordingly, specific customs and rituals can be observed throughout the country, most of them similar with those in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking nations.

For instance, during the Dia de Todos los Santos, which is a public holiday, many families tend to gather at the grave of their deceased relatives with holy water, flowers, food, and drink in order to rejoice and socialize.

¿Qué hora es?

Regardless of which Spanish-speaking country you’re in, a conversation about time usually starts with ¿Qué hora es? (What time is it?) Here’s how you can tell someone what time it is in Spanish:
  • When someone asks you, ¿Qué hora es? respond with the following:
Es la una (if the time is within the 1 o’clock hour)

or Son las + the hour (if the time is after 1 o’clock)

Son las dos

                                                               Son las tres

Son las cinco
